The Rock Perspective
By His Sacrifice, Comes Our Power
In the days of Joshua, as the children of Israel approached the Jordan River, poised to enter the land promised to their ancestors, the hearts of the surrounding nations melted with fear. But they weren't trembling at the might of Israel’s army—they feared the God who walked with them.
"We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt... our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below." — Joshua 2:10–11
The power that terrified kings and crumbled city walls wasn’t in swords or strategies—it was the presence of God. It was the same presence that split the Red Sea, rained manna from heaven, and made the walls of Jericho collapse at a shout. And that same power—the power of Almighty God—is still available today to those who walk in covenant with Him.
The Secret to Their Strength
Israel’s strength wasn’t in their numbers. They had wandered in the wilderness for forty years. They were tired, weathered, and battle-scarred. Yet they were invincible—not because of who they were, but because of whose they were.
That is the truth that echoes through the centuries: when God is on your side, His power becomes your protection. The same God who fought for Joshua now fights for those who call upon Him today.
But there’s a greater victory than any Joshua could have claimed—a battle fought on a hill called Calvary.
The Cross: Power Made Perfect in Sacrifice
Jesus, the Son of God, took the battle to the source. Sin. Death. Hell. He faced them all and overcame them with His life laid down. On the Cross, Jesus became our Passover Lamb, taking the punishment for our sins, offering His righteousness in exchange for our brokenness.
"Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it." — Colossians 2:15
His death looked like defeat—but it was the greatest victory ever won. And when He rose from the grave, He shattered the final stronghold of the enemy. Now, all who put their faith in Him are covered by that victory.
The power of God that once brought nations to their knees now lives within the believer through the Holy Spirit. The same presence that led Israel by fire and cloud now dwells in the hearts of those who believe in Jesus.
Living in the Shadow of Victory
To follow Christ is to live not in fear, but in faith. Just as the enemies of Israel trembled because of what God had done for His people, the forces of darkness today tremble at the name of Jesus. His blood is the seal of your redemption, His Spirit your guide, and His promises your inheritance.
So when the battles rage—when you face your own Jericho, when rivers look too wide to cross, when the odds are against you—remember: God is still the same. And if He is for you, who can be against you?
"No weapon formed against you shall prosper... This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord." — Isaiah 54:17
Conclusion: You Are Not Alone
If you’ve placed your faith in Jesus, you don’t stand alone. You stand with the authority of heaven behind you. And that makes all the difference. You may not see walls fall at your shout or rivers part at your step, but you carry the very presence of God within you.
The victory has already been won. Walk in it. Claim it. Live as one who knows the power that defeated death now lives in you.
Because when God is on your side, the impossible becomes possible.
