When God Is On Your Side: The Power That Parts Rivers and Defeats Giants

In the days of Joshua, as the children of Israel approached the Jordan River, poised to enter the land promised to their ancestors, the hearts of the surrounding nations melted with fear. But they weren't trembling at the might of Israel’s army—they feared the God who walked with them.

But there’s a greater victory than any Joshua could have claimed—a battle fought on a hill called Calvary.

The Cross: Power Made Perfect in Sacrifice

Jesus, the Son of God, took the battle to the source. Sin. Death. Hell. He faced them all and overcame them with His life laid down. On the Cross, Jesus became our Passover Lamb, taking the punishment for our sins, offering His righteousness in exchange for our brokenness.

"Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it." — Colossians 2:15

His death looked like defeat—but it was the greatest victory ever won. And when He rose from the grave, He shattered the final stronghold of the enemy. Now, all who put their faith in Him are covered by that victory.

The power of God that once brought nations to their knees now lives within the believer through the Holy Spirit. The same presence that led Israel by fire and cloud now dwells in the hearts of those who believe in Jesus.

Living in the Shadow of Victory

To follow Christ is to live not in fear, but in faith. Just as the enemies of Israel trembled because of what God had done for His people, the forces of darkness today tremble at the name of Jesus. His blood is the seal of your redemption, His Spirit your guide, and His promises your inheritance.

So when the battles rage—when you face your own Jericho, when rivers look too wide to cross, when the odds are against you—remember: God is still the same. And if He is for you, who can be against you?

"No weapon formed against you shall prosper... This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord." — Isaiah 54:17
